It was a busy first week in May for Llanpumsaint & Nebo fundraising committee. A number of activities took place which started on the bank holiday Monday with a treasure hunt. 17 cars took part with the winners being Eirion, Sharon, Mike and Gill from the village with runners up being Dylan a Meinir Nebo. Thanks to Mandy and Sal for organising the hunt and good luck to our winners who will be organising our next year’s hunt!!!
On Wednesday 5th of May a duck race and BBQ was held at the village playing fields, 1000 ducks were sold in total. Thanks to Mrs Margaret Griffiths for her kind donation and to all who sold and bought ducks weeks leading up to the event.
On the 7th of May a village walk was organised by Carolyn Smethurst, over 15 people turned up and enjoyed the views around the village, thanks to all that supported.
On the 8th of May we organised a Community Fun Day. Weather was against us again this year but it didn’t put a damper on things as many community groups came with their stalls. There was a wide variety of stalls varying from plants, cakes, children’s games and much more. The car boot sale had to move under the marquee. There was a quiz early evening with 10 teams participating. Winners were Brian Gilham, Dylan Jones and Alun Rees. Following the quiz we had Alan Lewis disco which was a great success by all ages.
Thanks to everybody that supported the weeks activities. Over £1800 was raised throughout the week and the fund will be distributed to community groups upon request. It will be a quiet summer for the committee but we look forward to support other events in the village.
Future Events:
In 2010 the committee has submitted money to help with the following:
- Llanpumsaint Primary School – towards the purchase of a whiteboard and shapes to put around the yard
- Parish Church – money towards the completion of the wall
- Welfare Committee – towards maintenance of the playing field
- New Committee (Llanpumsaint Community Information Exchange) – to establish the group.
Thank you very much for your support during the last few years, we look forward to future ones.
